This week we made what looked like a tiny enhancement to a customer’s print workflow… literally a single line of code. On paper, it seemed insignificant.
In reality…
It removed a manual step from thousands of jobs, reduced operator intervention, eliminated opportunities for error, and will save countless hours over the coming months. The financial return will dwarf the effort it took to implement.
It’s a reminder that the biggest gains in workflow automation don’t always come from massive projects or expensive software upgrades. They often come from listening.
Too many implementations start with a predetermined outcome:
“This is how the workflow should work.”
The best implementations start with a different question:
“How do you work, and what’s slowing you down?”
When you genuinely listen to your customers, you uncover the small frustrations that everyone has learned to live with. Solve those, and the impact can be enormous.
Technology is important.
But understanding the people using it is what creates real value.
Sometimes, the most valuable thing you deliver isn’t a new workflow…
It’s one extra line of code.
